Kool-Aid, Lies, and VideoTape

To be honest, few expected members of the AFL-CIO in Ohio to do anything other than clap for Obama today like a bunch of trained seals trying to earn their green jobs err uh I mean fish.   Many do however expect more from members of the media covering such an event.  It seems to have slipped by most networks broadcasting the speech that Obama said his unprecedented recovery act was passed without the usual earmarks and pork barrel spending.  The following video link has been provided for evidence:

It should  be pointed out that the recovery act did not contain earmarks.  Many, who think it did, often confuse it with the earmark laden Omnibus Appropriations Act.  To be clear, Obama's comment today was in reference to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  President Obama was correct in referring to it as unprecedented.  It was unprecedented in terms of the amount of wasteful pork barrel spending it contained and the fact that none of the people who voted for it actually read it.  In their defense, the person who signed it into law didn't read it either.  It should also be pointed out that Obama's comment did pass the Clintonian test for honesty in that it was legally accurate albeit intentionally misleading. Translation,  no actual pork barrels were purchased with the money appropriated by this act so there was in fact no pork barrel spending.  Frankly, the recovery act was about as pork free as an order of Chili's baby back ribs and Obama knows it.

The  pork contained in the act has been so very well documented that anyone who doubts it is probably either  a 9-11 truther like Van Jones or a global cooling denier like everyone who works for General Electric and well Van Jones.  There is no point in attempting to enlightening those who will not see and time will not be wasted here in such an effort. What is of interest is the president's facial expression and body language when he knows that we know he is fibbing.  Despite the fact that everyone watching knew he was not telling the truth, Obama delivered his "no pork in the recovery act" line with the sincerity of a trained Hollywood professional. The gleam in his eye suggested he took great delight in viewing the sea of union,  kool-aid drinking zombies who applauded  him like a god even when their common sense should having been telling them that he was full of bologna.

At times, Obama looked directly into the camera as if to challenge all those watching, as if to say, "that's right, I'm lying, what are going to do about it?" He delivered his laughable "without the usual pork" line with the arrogance of someone who thinks that when he tells such a whopper,  Americans should respond by saying "thank you sir will you tell another?"

There has never been a president this arrogant, this overconfident, this quixotic and therefore this reckless with our fate.  There has never been a president with such a lazy, stupid electorate at his disposal  either. The two have combined to create a very dangerous situation. We now have a president who can inflict as much damage as he wishes on this country without totally forgoing all possibility of being elected for a second term. One day, many American's will have to decide if the pork dinner they enthusiastically gobbled down was worth the price.
